One of the key tips highlighted by Ms.Jane Ng emphasizes the importance of considering the overall school experience. She recommends that parents ask current students about their school experience, focusing on what they enjoy most and find meaningful in their school life.

To gain a comprehensive understanding of a school beyond just its Cut Off Point, it is crucial to assess whether the chosen school aligns with your child’s needs. One effective way to do this is by attending the school’s Open House, which provides a brief orientation.

“These could be factors pertaining to proximity and profile of the school, as well as special programmes and subjects the school may offer. It is important for parents and children to reach a common understanding so their children can exercise ownership over their choices.”

Secondary Schools CCA

When considering a secondary school for your O-Level/IP journey, one crucial aspect to consider is the availability of the school’s Co-Curricular Activities (CCA). As our team compiled the list of various CCAs offered by schools, we were genuinely excited and amazed by the diversity of options available. For example, we were surprised to discover that schools offer activities such as fencing, dragon boating, canoeing, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sailing, and many more. This broadened our perspective and highlighted the wide array of CCAs available.

During our compilation, it happened to be the year of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo when we highlighted the athletes representing Singapore. Coincidentally, this year also marked the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games. Both events provided thrilling moments as our athletes represented Singapore, competing against the best in the region. This year was particularly remarkable as sprint queen Shanti Pereira secured a historic gold for Singapore, becoming the women’s 200m champion and marking Singapore’s first track gold since 1974.

“I knew I crossed the line first, and I was like ‘oh my God.’ What a season, what a season. I just saw the finish line, I knew I won. It’s been so crazy. It means a lot to me. I can’t really describe this. It’s been incredible. Before the race I said I’m going to give it everything I’ve got because it’s my last race of the season – I’m going to make it count.”
